Prepare for MyCourses New Content Experience

Georgia Gwinnett College is preparing to transition to the New Content Experience (NCE) — a modernized, streamlined interface for creating and managing course content in MyCourses. The new experience is designed to make navigating the Content tool more intuitive for both instructors and students, with a clean layout, improved organization tools, and faster access to materials.

Why Enable NCE Now?

Information Technology began encouraging instructors to request the enablement of NCE in their courses, building sections, and sandbox courses in the summer of 2025. D2L could end support for the Classic Content Experience as early as December 2026. While the New Content Experience will remain optional (opt-in) through 2026, it will become the default experience by Spring 2027.

By enabling NCE early, instructors will have time to:

  • Familiarize themselves with the new layout and workflows.
  • Identify and resolve formatting issues that may appear when content is converted.
  • Provide a consistent experience for students across all courses, reducing confusion and improving usability.

After enabling the New Content Experience, instructors should review their existing course materials to ensure that files, links, videos, and modules display correctly. While most content will transfer seamlessly, some formatting differences may occur when switching from the Classic Content interface to NCE. Reviewing content before the semester begins will help ensure a smooth start for both instructors and students.

NCE Feature Parity and D2L’s Roadmap

The New Content Experience has now reached near full feature parity with the Classic Content Experience. Instructors will find that most familiar features are now supported within NCE, including those for organizing modules, embedding multimedia, linking to learning activities, and managing completion tracking.

Information Technology provides an up-to-date comparison table of the Classic and New Content Experiences in MyCourses Central, allowing instructors to easily compare the two.

It’s also important to note that D2L will not be adding certain lesser-used features from the Classic interface to NCE. For example, Bookmarks and other tools that were not widely utilized in most courses will not be carried forward. This shift allows D2L to focus development on improving the tools and workflows that faculty and students rely on most for teaching and learning.

GGC Implementation Timeline

  • Spring 2026: Faculty may request the enablement of NCE to explore and prepare.
  • Summer & Fall 2026: NCE will be available as an opt-in experience.
  • Spring 2027: NCE is expected to become the default MyCourses content experience at GGC.

By adopting NCE early, GGC faculty can help create a more unified, user-friendly learning environment that supports student success and reduces adjustment challenges when the New Content Experience becomes the standard.
