Welcome back, Faculty! GGC Information Technology (IT) has a few start-of-semester reminders to help provide a smooth start to the Spring 2024 semester.
Single Point of Contact
IT has transitioned to a single point-of-contact model for all technology support requests. The Help Desk is the central point of contact for all requests. This includes but is not limited to password assistance, email delivery, MyCourses assistance, classroom technology support, and event technology support.
The Classroom Technology support number (678-407-5555) will now be answered by the Help Desk. Requests for assistance with classroom technology will managed through the Help Desk’s ticketing system.
You can reach the Help Desk via the following channels:
Email: helpdesk@ggc.edu
Web: helpdesk.ggc.edu
Phone: 678-407-5611
You can also visit us in A-1040. Our service hours are posted on IT Services.
D2L vs MyCourses
IT would like to remind faculty and staff that the appropriate name for our Learning Management System is “MyCourses“. Brightspace is the product name of the Learning Management System (LMS), and D2L is the vendor by which the product is owned and managed.
IT has been working diligently to update webpages and documentation to reflect the GGC branded name. We will continue to promote the use of the MyCourses name to ensure continuity and consistency for students, faculty, and staff across campus and online.
Demo Students
IT would like to remind faculty teaching online that there is a Demo Student enrolled in every course for testing purposes. Please double-check your course by impersonating the Demo Student to interact with the course from the student’s perspective. The Demo Student can submit Assignments, take Quiz attempts, and much more!
If you do not have a Demo Student enrolled in your course, please email helpdesk@ggc.edu to request one.
Zoom Sign In
Please remember to use the SSO button when signing into the GGC Zoom client. If you have not set up your GGC Zoom account, please do so before attempting to use the Zoom integration in MyCourses.
Technology Consultations
The Academic Technology team within IT offers technology consultations for faculty and staff. If you need technology assistance in a classroom, MyCourses, or just have a general technology-rated question, please book a consultation with one of our knowledgeable team members.
